Team Iran wrapped up a successful campaign at the 11th World Para Powerlifting
Championships, held from 9 to 18 October 2025 in Cairo, Egypt, finishing sixth
overall in the Elite division with a total of seven medals — two gold, three
silver, and two bronze.
The 11th edition
of the Championships marked a historic milestone as the first-ever World Para
Powerlifting Worlds held in Africa, featuring both Elite and Rookie & Next
Generation events. The junior events took place on 9–10 October, followed by
the Elite competitions from 11–18 October, attracting 533 athletes across 20
bodyweight categories. The event also signaled the start of the new Paralympic
qualification pathway toward the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

Rookie & Next Gen Success
Iran also
impressed in the Rookie & Next Generation events, earning ten medals,
including eight golds and two silvers, to rank third overall behind Uzbekistan
and Armenia. The events were held over two days, showcasing the sport’s
emerging talents.
