Team Iran finished runner-up at the Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games, claiming a record 262 medals and showcasing the future of Iranian Para sport.
Iran NPC, Tehran –Team Iran delivered an outstanding runners-up finish at the fifth Asian Youth Para Games in Dubai, securing 262 medals—76 gold, 96 silver and 90 bronze—among athletes from 34 Asian nations, marking the highest medal total ever achieved by Iran at the Games.
With 194 athletes competing across 20 Para sports—10 for boys and 10 for girls—Iran demonstrated depth, balance and consistency throughout the Games.
Compared with the Bahrain 2021 edition, where Iran secured 144 medals with 145 athletes, the Dubai 2025 outcome marks significant growth. The medal tally, rising by more than 80 per cent, highlights the impact of long-term planning, targeted development and the emergence of a new generation of talented Para athletes.
With 104 podium finishes, Para swimming topped Iran’s medal count, ahead of Para athletics with 82 medals. Disciplines including Para armwrestling, Para powerlifting, Para taekwondo, Para table tennis, 3x3 wheelchair basketball, goalball and boccia also made significant contributions, underlining Iran’s broad-based success.
The runners-up finish in Dubai offers a clear indication of the future direction of Iranian Para sport, highlighting the commitment, preparation and growing potential of the nation’s young athletes on the Asian stage.
