Iran men’s wheelchair basketball team defeat Brazil in day two of the 2026 IWBF Men’s Repechage.
Iran NPC, Tehran - Iran men’s wheelchair basketball team continued their preliminary round campaign at the 2026 IWBF Men’s Repechage in Suphanburi, Thailand, with a 75–63 victory over Brazil, strengthening the position in Group B on the road to qualification for the 2026 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships.
Mahdi Abbasi led Team Iran with an impressive double-double of 31 points and 11 rebounds, while Morteza Abedi added 15 points.
Competing under the commemorative name “In Memory of Martyr Reza Rakjan (MIA)”, Iran delivered another composed display against a competitive Brazilian side following their opening 77–24 victory over Senegal.
Iran will face Poland in the third group-stage match on Wednesday at 8:00 (Iran time).
The tournament, taking place from 8 to 12 June in Thailand, serves as the final qualification event for the 2026 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships in Ottawa, with four spots available.
