Iran NPC, Tehran - Addressing Paralympic leaders, officials and guests from across the sporting community, the Iran NPC President congratulated the Russian Paralympic movement on three decades of achievement and praised Paralympic sport as a symbol of hope, determination and human solidarity.
“Paralympic sport is the shared language of humanity,” Karegari said. “It brings nations together beyond borders through courage, hope and the power to overcome limitations.”
During his speech, Karegari reflected on Iran’s rich civilisation and cultural heritage while also speaking about the country’s recent hardships, including military attacks that, he said, claimed the lives of thousands of civilians, among them women, children and athletes.
He stated that nearly 300 Iranian athletes lost their lives during the attacks, including a Paralympic athlete, while thousands more people were injured and sports venues across the country sustained serious damage.
Despite the challenges, Karegari emphasised that the Iranian people had emerged stronger through unity, resilience and reliance on domestic capabilities.
“Today, the world is witnessing a strong Iran,” he said. “The Iranian nation continues to move forward with determination and dignity.”
The Iran NPC President also highlighted the country’s continued investment in sport and athlete preparation, confirming that Iranian athletes are actively preparing for upcoming major international events, including the 2026 Asian Games and future Paralympic competitions.
Karegari further underlined Iran’s commitment to strengthening international Paralympic cooperation, describing sport as an important platform for dialogue, friendship and mutual understanding among nations.
Alongside attending the anniversary celebrations, the Iranian delegation is also scheduled to hold a series of official meetings with international counterparts aimed at expanding sporting relations and signing future cooperation agreements.
