Iran National Paralympic Committee President Dr. Ghafour Karegari met with Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, Dr. Kazem Jalali, in Moscow during his visit for the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Russian Paralympic Committee.
Iran NPC, Tehran- President Karegari held talks with Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, Dr. Kazem Jalali, during his visit to Moscow for the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Russian Paralympic Committee.
During the meeting, Dr. Jalali highlighted the growing importance of sports diplomacy in international relations, stressing that the development of sports cooperation, exchange of teams, and organization of joint sporting events are key components of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Iran and Russia.
He also referred to what he described as double standards in international sport governance, pointing to inconsistencies between the declared principle of political neutrality in sport and the restrictions imposed on Russian athletes in recent years.
Dr. Karegari, for his part, underlined the importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing challenges faced by athletes, noting that recent examples of Russian athletes competing under their national flag and anthem reflect the value of constructive engagement and cooperation in international sport.
