paralympic| news| Remembering the Legend Siamand Rahman on the 4th Anniversary of His Death
Today marks the fourth death anniversary of forever the champion Iran's Siamand Rahman.

 

Iran NPC, Tehran: March 1st marks a solemn occasion for Paralympic family around the world and specially in Iran as it commemorates the death anniversary of Iranian Para Powerlifting Legendary Champion Siamand Rahman.

As a pioneer of his sport, Siamand Rahman was an inspiration for many in Iran and around the world. He was a unique ambassador for Paralympic Movement.

Rahman's Sport Achievements

Iranian Para Powerlifter started his international career in 2008, winning the gold medal at the IWAS Junior World Games in the USA. Rahman’s most memorable sporting achievements came in 2012 and 2016 when he won two gold medals at the Paralympic Games in London and Rio, respectively.

At Rio 2016, the Iranian became the first Paralympian to break the 300kg barrier with an amazing lift of 310kg in the men’s over 107kg final.

The strongest man in Paralympic history was also a three-time world champion (Dubai 2014, Mexico City 2017 and Nur-Sultan 2019) and three-time Asian Para Games gold medallist (Guangzhou 2010, Incheon 2014 and Indonesia 2018).
 Rahman had been targeting a third Paralympic gold in Tokyo and had promised to try to break his current record in the process.

 His life and triumphs are an inspiration to many athletes, not only in Iran but all over the world.

Rahman died at the age of 32 on March 1st 2020 after suffering a heart attack.

In May 2021, a giant bust with a brief history of Rahman’s career was unveiled at the entrance of his hometown Oshnavieh, in the northwest of the country.

Though he may be gone, his legend will never fade.
