Team Iran claimed 26 gold, 36 silver and 40 bronze medals to finish sixth in the medal standings at the fifth Asian Para Games.
Iran NPC, Tehran – Iran wrapped up its Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games campaign with 102 medals, finishing sixth in the overall standings after seven days of competition.
The Iranian delegation featured 166 athletes – 104 men and 62 women – who competed in 15 sports. The team secured 102 medals, comprising 26 gold, 36 silver and 40 bronze, to finish sixth in the final medal standings.
Iran’s preparations for the Games were affected by the challenges posed by two wars imposed on the country over the past two years. Under these circumstances, organising national team training camps and ensuring adequate preparation for the continental event proved particularly difficult for the National Paralympic Committee of Iran and its partner national sports federations, with the impact also reflected in the team’s performance in Aichi-Nagoya.
China topped the final medal standings, followed by hosts Japan in second place and Uzbekistan in third.
