Iran NPC, Nagoya – Led by flagbearer Rouhollah Rostami, Iran’s 166-strong delegation paraded at the opening ceremony of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games on Sunday, officially launching its campaign at Asia’s premier Para sport event.

The team entered Mizuho Park Stadium under the banner “Devoted to a Strong Iran”, with 104 men and 62 women set to compete across 15 sports.

The delegation’s journey to Japan was complicated by wartime conditions and air travel disruptions. Nine-year-old Ana Jahangard, the team’s honorary ambassador who was injured in the bombing of Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab, also joined the parade, bringing a poignant human dimension to the occasion.

With the opening ceremony concluded, Iran’s athletes will now turn their attention to competition, aiming to convert months of preparation into podium finishes.

The Games run from 18 to 24 October in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan.
