Iran swept aside Kazakhstan in straight sets (3-0) to reach the World Championship final and secure qualification for the LA28 Paralympic Games.
Iran NPC, Tehran – Team Iran’s men’s sitting volleyball team dominated Kazakhstan 3-0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-23) to reach the final of the 2026 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships in Hangzhou on 16 July.
With this victory, Iran became the first men’s sitting volleyball team in the world to secure a place at the LA28 Paralympic Games.
Iran’s knockout stage results:
Round of 16: Iran 3-0 Croatia (25-17, 25-11, 25-6)
Quarter-finals: Iran 3-0 USA (25-21, 25-15, 25-16)
Semi-finals: Iran 3-0 Kazakhstan (25-18, 25-10, 25-23)
Team Melli had also defeated Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Japan in the men’s group stage.
Defending world and Paralympic champions Iran will face their long-standing rivals Bosnia and Herzegovina in the final on 17 July at 15:00, aiming to claim their ninth World title.
Serving as a qualification opportunity for the LA28 Paralympic Games, the 2026 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships is being held from 10-17 July and features 32 teams from around the world.
