Iran’s women’s wheelchair basketball team will compete at the fifth Asian Para Games in Aichi–Nagoya after receiving approval from the National Paralympic Committee’s Executive Board.

Iran NPC, Tehran - Iran’s National Paralympic Committee Executive Board approved the decision during its 233rd meeting chaired by NPC President Dr. Ghafour Karegari.

Under previous NPC Executive Board policy, female athletes in individual sports were only selected for Aichi–Nagoya 2026 if they were considered capable of achieving a top-four finish.

However, the board revised the policy during its latest meeting, allowing women’s team sports with top-four potential to be considered for selection to Aichi–Nagoya 2026.

The meeting was attended by NPC Officials, Executive Board members and representatives of national sports federation, both in person and online.

The Aichi–Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games will take place from October 18 to 24, 2026, with around 4,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries expected to compete across 18 sports.
