Iran’s national paracanoe team delivered a strong performance at the 2026 Asian Paracanoe Championships in Kazakhstan, securing four gold medals and two silvers in a competition carrying valuable qualification points towards the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
Iran NPC, Tehran - The continental event was held in Turkistan from June 4 to 7 and brought together leading para-athletes from across Asia in high-performance canoe sprint competition.
Iran’s medal haul was led by multiple gold medallist Eslam Jahedi, who topped the podium in the men’s VL2 200m and VL2 500m events.
Shahla Bahrozi Rad also produced an impressive campaign, winning gold in the women’s KL3 500m before adding silver in the KL3 200m.
Saeed Hosseinpour claimed another title for Iran after taking gold in the men’s KL1 200m, while Elias Barki secured silver in the men’s KL2 500m.
Iran competed at the championships with a squad consisting of Bahrozi-Rad, Jahedi, Hosseinpour, Barki and Masoud Gheysari under the lead of head coach Ahmadreza Talebian.
The championships form part of the Asian continental calendar recognised for Paralympic qualification ranking points ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
