Dr. Ghafoor Karegari highlights Iran’s experience with National Paralympic Day during Sports Development Expert Panel in Seoul

Iran NPC, Seoul – The opening day of the 22nd IPC General Assembly and Conference in Seoul featured a series of expert panels where IPC members shared case studies of their initiatives, providing valuable knowledge transfer to the global Paralympic community.

Dr. Ghafoor Karegari, President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Iran, joined the Sports Development Expert Panel together with the NPC Presidents of Peru and Tunisia, as well as representatives from World Taekwondo and World Abilitysport.

In his presentation, Karegari highlighted the history of National Paralympic Day in Iran, the NPC’s strategic approach to this occasion, the impact of staging the event over the years, and the plans for the 2025 edition. He concluded by proposing the establishment of an official Paralympic Day, similar to Olympic Day, to be celebrated worldwide.

The 22nd IPC General Assembly and Conference is hosting nearly 400 representatives from around 190 IPC member organisations and several IPC-recognised International Federations in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 24 to 27 September 2025.

Karegari is attending the Conference on 24–25 September and the General Assembly on 26–27 September, during which elections will take place for the IPC President, Vice Presidents, and Governing Board members.
