Iran NPC, Tehran – A Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between the Iran National Paralympic
Committee (NPC) and the Special Education Organization, aiming to promote
sports among students with special needs, identify emerging talents, and foster
the intellectual development of the Paralympic Movement in Iran.
The signing
ceremony took place this morning at the headquarters of the Special Education
Organization. The agreement outlines several key objectives: advancing
scientific approaches to sports among students with special needs and their
families, talent identification and development, expanding the intellectual
foundations of the Paralympic Movement, enhancing the knowledge and skills of
professionals in the education sector, collaborating in the observance of
National Paralympic Day and Week (October 15), and supporting the growth of the
National Paralympic Award initiative.
Dr. Ghafoor
Kargari, President of Iran NPC, emphasized the importance of this agreement,
stating that it reflects a shared commitment to mobilizing joint capacities and
implementing targeted programs to promote sports among students with
disabilities. He expressed hope that a joint taskforce to be formed under this
agreement would actively pursue and evaluate its implementation.
Referring to the
role of the Physical Education Policy Council in the Special Education
Organization, he added: “This council can serve as a catalyst for greater
synergy among stakeholders in the field of physical education, helping to turn
strategic agreements into tangible outcomes.” He highlighted the significance
Iran NPC places on early talent identification and promoting grassroots sports
within the target population.
Dr. Salar
Ghasemi, Head of the Special Education Organization, also expressed his
satisfaction with the signing of the agreement. He noted that the cooperation
is designed to strengthen scientific foundations for school-based sports and
empower students with special needs. "Identifying and nurturing talent,
along with cultivating a Paralympic mindset in schools, are among the core
components of this agreement," he said.
