Seyed Meysam Banitaba edged to gold on the mat of 2024 IBSA Grand Prix on Saturday.

 

Iran NPC, Tehran: Iranian Seyed Meysam Banitaba claimed the title of J1 men's up to 60kg category at the 2024 IBSA Grand Prix on Saturday evening.
Banitaba defeated his opponents from Thailand, China and India by ippon at the preliminary, quarterfinal and semifinal fights which took place from 10 am (CET and local time) on February 17th.
 He triumphed over Brazilian VI Judoka Elielton Oliveira at the final match to secure his gold medal at SNP dome.

Shiwen Zhu from China clinched a bronze medal in the same category.

Nearly 250 judokas from 47 nations are competing at the first IBSA Grand Prix of 2024 in Heidelberg, Germany from 17 to 18 February.
