Iranian Judokas bagged five medals at the Astana 2023, IBSA Judo Asian Championships and won the title.

 

Iran NPC, Tehran: Bagging five medals (3 Gold and 2 Bronze), Iran’s Judo squad topped the podium at the 2023 IBSA Judo Asian Championships.

On the first day of the IBSA Judo Asian Championships, Iran's Seyed Meisam Banitaba (J1 -60kg) and Vahid Jeddi (J2 -73kg) defended their World titles in Baku and moved a little further on the Road to Paris.

Mousa Gholami (90 kg weight category) also won the first place on day two of the competitions.

Ali Navaei (J1 +90kg) and Mahdi Borchlou (J1-73kg), the other Iranian representatives also took two bronze medals.

 

From April 28 to 30, 2023, 85 judokas (58 men and 27 women) from 11 Asian countries competed for the continental title. Indonesia, India, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Mongolia, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, and Uzbekistan turned Astana into the Asian Judo Capital for three days.

The IBSA Judo Asian Championships took place at the Jekpe Jek Hall in Astana, Kazakhstan and served as qualification for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
