The head of Iran's national paralympic committee (NPC) Dr. Ghafoor Karegari attended in the last day of the 2023 FIS Para Skiing Open National Championships staged at the Tochal resort, followed by the closing ceremony of the events, on 8 February.
"It gives me great pleasure to speak to you this morning. Today, I came here firstly, to meet the para athletes who have participated in these competitions, and secondly, to appreciate the efforts and support of the organizing committee's officials," Dr. Karegari stated at his closing ceremony’s speech.
"To watch para skiers at the events remind us how athletes with disabilities are well determined and stronger than the others, once more. They accomplish what many people dream of doing. These elite athletes are the actual role models for the society," NPC President said to reporters.
"To stage these competitions at an appropriate international level was our biggest concern, and thank God everything went as planned. I hope that winter para sports will be able to break through the limitations and flourish in Iran more than before", he added.
"Iran NPC and National Ski Federation are welcoming all the young people with disabilities who are interested in the para winter sports to show their strengths and capacities."
“We are determined to carry out and expand our international programs,” NPC President pointed out.
"Our mission is to lead the Paralympic Movement and support our national federations to enable Para athletes to achieve sporting excellence. We have a great potential for improving the winter para sports in Iran. So, through the national federation's cooperation, we aim at developing snow sports around the country at all levels," Dr. Karegari concluded.
