Day 7 of the 2022 IBSA Goalball World Championships has been completed and Iran’s men goalball squad was defeated by USA.

Iran lost to USA 9-11 at the Goalball World Championships on Tuesday, 13 December.

The national Iranian men's goalball have defeated Colombia 15-5, Egypt 10-3, Argentina 10-6 and lost to China 7-5, and Lithuania 5-15 in the competitions, later.

This victory of the USA men’s squad against Iran made both teams equal in points, which makes the last round of the stage group truly “all or nothing” for these two teams.

In theory, the USA has it much easier than Iran, although Iran is still in fourth place. The USA will play against Colombia, and Iran will face Ukraine, today.

Day 8 will be the last call for the finals and today, all will be decided!

Iran is drawn in Group D along with China, Lithuania, Ukraine, the U.S., Egypt, Mexico and Colombia.

The competition started on Dec. 7 in Matosinhos, Portugal and will run until Dec. 16. This tournament is the first chance to lock up spots in the Paralympic Games Paris 2024, with the top two men’s and women’s teams earning their berths.
