Tokyo 2020: Day 3 recap
Amir Jafari won the first medal for Team Iran as Ramihi set a new World Record.

Day 3 of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games kicked off with Zahra Nemati, Mohammadreza Zandi and Farzane Asgari competing in Individual Recurve, Individual W1 and Indiviadual Compound, respectively in the open ranking round. Nemati, Iran's two-time Paralympics gold medalist ranked third with 630 points and will face her opponent in the knockouts. Mohammadreza Zandi with 643 points and Farzaneh Asgari with 677 points ranked 6th and 12th, respectively, and will appear in the elimination.

At Izu Velodrome, cyclist Mahdi Mohammadi finished 10th with 5:9.154 and couldn't qualify for the final.

Back to archery, in the men’s individual recurve, Gholamreza Rahimi could break the world record set by Iran's Ebrahim Ranjbar at Rio 2016. Alisina Manshazadeh and Ramezan Biabani scored 699 in the men's individual compound and will face Mexico and Iraq, respectively, in the knockouts.

At Ariake Arena, Iran lost the second match 41 - 65 to USA and will face Algeria on August 28th.

Finally, at Tokyo International Forum, Amir Jafari lifted 195 kg in the men's -65 kg and jumped into history books as the first medalist of Team Iran at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
