Sedigheh Rouzbeh will compete at the women’s Para snowboard at the 2018 Winter Paralympics.

Rouzbeh is the first Iranian woman to participate in the event.

She is Sadegh Kalhor’s wife, who has already represented Iran in the Winter Paralympics.

“I’m the first Iranian woman to compete in Para snowboard. I know I have a difficult task ahead but I will do my best in the Games,” Rouzbeh told Paralympic.ir.

Para snowboard made its debut at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi with two medal events for athletes with lower-limb impairments (one male and one female).

In Pyeongchang, there will be 10 events across three categories - upper limb impairments (SB-UL) (men only) and lower limb impairments (SBLL-1 and SBLL-2) (men and women) - and two disciplines, snowboard cross and banked slalom.

The Paralympics will take place from March 9 to 18 in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

A total of 650 athletes from 45 countries are expected to partake in the event.
