 Iran failed to win the 2017 IWBF Asia Oceania Championships, losing to powerhouse Australia 80-54 in the final match.

The Iranian wheelchair basketball team defeated Saudi Arabia (85-31), New Zealand (91-15), Thailand (89-62), China (86-45) and Japan (80-76) and lost to Australia in the competition in Beijing, China.

Omid Hadi Azhar from Iran was named as the competition’s MVP.

In women’s section, China women were crowned champions of the 2017 IWBF Asia Oceania Championships for the second time running, with a 57-46 win over the Australian Gliders.

 

 


In the bronze medal game as expected, it was Japan who outclassed Iran to win 76-19 and take home the bronze.
