Two-time Paralympic gold medallist, Zahra Nemati, will participate at the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

The session will be held in Geneva, Switzerland on March 22-23.

The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is an international human rights treaty of the United Nations intended to protect the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities.

The Convention aims to ensure that people with disabilities can enjoy their rights on an equal basis with all other citizens.

The Para-archer, who was chosen to be the flag-bearer for Iran at Olympic Games opening ceremony in Rio, became the first Iranian woman to win a gold in either the Olympics or Paralympics.

“It’s a great honor for me to take part at the Convention and I hope to be a good representative for my country. I want to defend the rights and dignity of disabled persons. My most important message is you can beat disabilities through sport,” Nemati told Paralympic.ir.
