Shot putter Azimi earns Bronze at Rio Paralympics

Iranian shot putter Asadollah Azimi won a bronze medal at the Paralympic Games on Wednesday.

He won the bronze medal with a throw of 8.14m.

Greece’s Che Jon Fernandes, the reigning world champion, added the Paralympic title to his name with a throw of 8.44m.

The USA’s Scot Severn had his best finish after three Paralympics with 8.41m for the silver.

Iran has participated at the 2016 Summer Paralympics with 111 athletes in 12 sports.

The Iranian delegation finished in 11th place in the previous edition, winning 10 gold medals, seven silvers and seven bronze medals.
