Iranian paracanoeist Shahla Behrouzi Rad wants to win a Paralympic medal at Rio 2016.

On August 19, Behrouzi Rad won a Paralympic berth for Iran in the final women’s KL2 200m after finishing in the sixth place of the 2015 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships at the artificial Idroscalo Lake in Milan, Italy.

She also took part at the ICF Paracanoe World Championships in Duisburg, Germany in May and came fifth in the event.
“The world championships had brought the best paracanoeists together in Duisburg and I think it was a really good practice for me and really focus on what I was doing,” Behrouzi Rad told Paralympic.ir.

“In the event, I moved up one place and finished the competition with a better time. In Italy, I came sixth with three second behind the winner but in Germany I was 1.30 seconds behind the first-place finisher,” she added.

“I see myself as an athlete that has a chance to win a medal in Paralympics and it motivates me to train hard,” Behrouzi Rad stated.
