Hamzeh Mohammadi claimed a bronze medal at the IPC Powerlifting World Cup on Tuesday. 

The Iranian powerlifter seized the bronze with 193kg in the men’s up to 65kg weight category.

Egypt’s Shaaban Ibrahim sealed victory with 194kg. Algeria’s Hocine Bettir equalled Ibrahim’s lift but settled for second place because of his heavier bodyweight.


More than 200 athletes from 40 countries compete at the IPC Powerlifting World Cup in Dubai, UAE, from 15-19 February.

Hamzeh Mohammadi in -65kg, Majid Farzin in -80kg, Hamed Solhipour in -88kg, Saman Razi in -97kg, Mansour Pourmirzaei in -107kg, Ali Sadeghzadeh in -107kg and Siamand Rahman in +107kg represent Iran in the event.
