Nayereh Akef – Shooting

In 2000, Iran called up 41 Para athletes across 5 sports to take part at the XI Summer Paralympic Games. In the roster, there was a young shooter who made history in Sidney. Nayereh Akef won a bronze medal and etched her name in the annals of Olympic and Paralympic Games as the first Iranian woman to win a medal. Her success paved the way for the future Paralympians including Zahra Nemati and Sareh Javanmardi.
Nayereh Akef finally hung the boots up after the Beijing 2008 Paralympics Games.
