I.R. Iran National Paralympic Committee

 

 

History:
In 1998, based on IPC constitution and following the IPC Formal announcement regarding the necessity to establish I.R. Iran National Paralympic Committee, Dr. Robert Steadward; the then President of that was invited to pay a visit to Iran.

Further to his meeting   with Mr. Nategh Noori, the then I.R.Iran Parliament Speaker and observing remarkable activities done for the promotion of sports for people with disabilities, IPC officially agreed with the establishment of I.R. Iran NPC.

By the way, the NPC Constitution approved by I.R. Iran National Olympic Committee and the first General Assembly was held on February 5th 2001 in which all presiding and executive board members including Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa as the NPC President, were elected and took the office for the four–year term.

13 June 2001, the official inauguration of NPC Headquarters coincided with the Holy Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) blessed birthday. This committee was registered at the country as a non-profit organization affiliated to I.R. Iran National Olympic Committee.

I.R.Iran  NPC is the only non–profit entity in Iran which has been assigned to supervise, administer all coordination with  respect to Iranian Para athletes  participation in National & International events such as; Summer & Winter Paralympic Games, Regional competitions approved and organized by  IPC.

I.R. Iran NPC acts as an umbrella to cover athletes with various sport classes such as Spinal Cord Injuries, Ambulant Athletes, Amputees, Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability's, and also Visual Impairments.
